World's best horse out of Inglewood Stud bred mare

Star Hong Kong galloper Able Friend trounced rivals in the HK1 Champions Mile earlier this month, extending his winning run to six races.

Four of those races have been at the elite level so it's unsurprising the recently released Longines World Thoroughbred Rankings has confirmed him as the best galloper in the world.

We've watched Able Friend's career with pride at Inglewood Stud, the outstanding chestnut is a daughter of the Inglewood Stud bred mare Ponte Piccolo.

The daughter of Volksraad was sold through the Windsor Park Stud draft of the 2003 Premier Yearling Sale to Gai Waterhouse for $105,000. She was an exceptionally talented filly, winning the Listed Keith Nolan Classic before injury prematurely ended her career.

She is a daughter of the Inglewood Stud mare Baronia, who produced the South African Group One winner Global News and is a half-sister to the dam of G1 TJ Smith Classic winner Apercu.
