In an exciting initiative this season, Inglewood Stud will be subsidising flights from Auckland to Christchurch for mares booked to Zacinto. “The breeder pays the first $1,000 of the flight, and we’ll pay the rest,” Gus Wigley explains. “We’ve always had plenty of support from the upper North Island, but with interest really peaking now, we thought this might be a nice option for breeders up there. We’re only 20 minutes from the Christchurch airport, so a mare can go from Auckland Airport to grazing at Inglewood in under two hours. “We’ve got a couple of flights organised, one in late August and another in mid-September.
